Liz is has been great in helping us socialize and train our new puppy, Zoey. Liz helped us troubleshoot Zoey's stranger danger, nipping, and interactions with our adult dog and children.

Liz is great with both fur parents and pups, and I would highly recommend her!

Our incorrigible, rambunctious, nippy (and adored) puppy had her full attention. She modeled calm, effective, gentle training, and it was inspiring to see what could be accomplished with the right tools and skills. She knows a lot about psychology and dog behavior and she is well prepared to teach. After each session we're better able to handle our puppy.

Training with Liz was very informative.  We were in town to visit relatives and needed immediate help.  Liz fit us in and worked with our anxious dog.  Everything she taught us worked well and helped us and our puppy enjoy our trip. Thank you Liz!

Elizabeth is wonderful. She is knowledgable, and she shares that knowledge in a clear yet empowering way. She keeps you (and your dog) focused on your goals, and consistently follows up with emails after which bullet the main points so you can focus on the training and tools rather than taking notes.

Liz sets us all up for a successful start with information on house training, crate training, socialization, and more. After our pup arrives she did a house visit to check in and talk through more specific ways we could work with our pup on challenging behaviours like nipping. I'd definitely recommend Liz for anyone looking for support with dog training!

Our Training Philosophy
We believe effective training starts with understanding your dog on a deeper level. We identify triggers and underlying factors and are able to create tailored solutions that address challenges at the root of the issues, setting your dog up for sustained success.

Our approach is through the lens of positive reinforcement, using gentle and humane tools and techniques to make training interactive and run for both dog and their pet parent.
Dog management

Management

Prevent unwanted behaviors by managing the environment e.g., keeping shoes out of reach or managing your dog using tools like a crate or leash.
positive reenforcement

Positive Reenforcement

Don’t just stop bad behavior—reward the good! Keep treats handy to reinforce calm and good behaviors, like quiet play or chewing a bone.
Have fun with your dog

Have Fun!

Training should be fun! While some days may be tough, building a bond with your dog makes the journey rewarding for the whole family.

PAWSITIVE TIPS
Turn dinnertime into training time
Dinnertime Dog image
Make mealtime a training time! Dinner is the perfect opportunity to reinforce good behaviors in your puppy using positive reinforcement. Here’s how:
  • Before placing the food bowl down, ask your puppy to wait. Only give the signal to eat when they’re calm and ready, rewarding this patience with a treat.
  • Stay with your puppy while they eat, and have family members approach occasionally, offering treats. This helps your puppy feel comfortable with people around their food, preventing future food guarding.
  • Once your puppy is at ease, try adding special treats and briefly removing the bowl while they enjoy the treat. Return the bowl with another treat inside, building trust and reinforcing good behavior.

  • West Paw Dog Toys: Try the Toppl or Quizl for hours of fun.
  • Nina Ottosson Dog Puzzles: Choose from various levels of difficulty to keep your dog engaged.
  • Snuffle Mat: Encourage your dog’s natural foraging instincts with these mats.
